Nikkie & Dustin Fairbanks
– How did he propose?
Dustin lived out in Harrison at a lake house and he took me to J. Alexander’s for dinner. While we were there, his family and mine were setting up little tea lights on his front walkway. He had me follow him through through the lights and to the end of the walkway where there was a ring box with a flower heart around it and he got on one knee and proposed. Our family was waiting to greet us inside the house and he had a secret photographer behind the house. Afterwards, we had cake and champagne to celebrate!
– Tell us about your venue and why you chose it:
Grandview on top of Lookout Mountain was our venue. When we went to look there, I just fell in love instantly. We knew we wanted a fall wedding and the views there were incredible. The scenery itself allowed us limited decorations because of how pretty the greenery was and it overlooks the mountains.
– What was your favorite and least favorite part about the wedding planning process?
Planning a wedding is super crazy and it ultimately feels completely overwhelming with all the vendors you have to find as well with budgeting/ finding availability. So I would have to say my least favorite part was just the overwhelming feeling that I would have occasionally with not feeling prepared or like I had everything in order. My favorite part was seeing it all come to life step by step. It’s amazing how it actually truly does work out.
– Any advice for other brides planning their big day?
Most definitely get a coordinator and do NOT procrastinate! My coordinator was absolutely amazing and she made a lot of my planning a lot more simple. I didn’t have to worry about a thing on the day of and she handled every single detail.
– What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
Our first look pictures were my favorite! It was just a very special moment with my soon to be husband and I and we got some amazing shots of the two of us moments before we walked down the aisle. It was very intimate and emotional and at the same time it prepared me for the big event. My second favorite moment was when I walked down the aisle. Seeing Dustin’s reaction (and he was crying, hard) made it that much more exciting and real.
